Anâhata Chakra: The Heart Center
Anâhata chakra is located at the heart, hence it is widely known as ‘hrid-padma,’ or ‘heart lotus.’ It is the seat of interconnectedness in the body. It’s color is green, its lotus is of twelve petals, and its mantra is ‘yam.’
Try it out: sit comfortably, close the eyes, and chant ‘yam,’ repeatedly. It won’t take but a few repetitions for the mind to automatically settle in the heart. This is an extremely effective way to kindle the feelings of gratitude and appreciation. When the mind rests in anâhata chakra, being judgmental of others is impossible.
Anâhata literally means 'unstruck,' for it is at the center of transcendental sound (nâda). This sound is considered ‘unstruck’ because it is not produced by any mechanical means. It is the source of sound itself.
