'Body luster originates from the fire element and is of seven types: red, yellow, white, dark brown, green, pale white and black. That luster that is expansive, glossy and broad is auspicious, while a dry, soiled or contracted luster is inauspicious and betokens disease. The color of the aura reflects the predominant element in the individual. That aura due to the ether element is pure, blue, glossy and lustrous; that due to air is dry, dark reddish-brown and devoid of luster; fire’s aura is clear red, fiery and delightful to the eye; that of water is clear like pure water and very glossy; and earth’s is stable, glossy, dense, smooth and dark or white. The air aura, which manifests when prana is imbalanced, portends death or great suffering, while the others indicate health and happiness. It is said that Gautama Buddha’s aura extended to a distance of fifty miles from his body, and that everyone who came within this circle of influence automatically became a little more peaceful.'
